Elon Musk aims to build the world’s fastest automobile. The all-electric Tesla Roadster will be that automobile, with a 0-60 mph time of 1.9 seconds, a 0-100 mph time of 4.2 seconds, a quarter-mile pace of 8.8 seconds, and a top speed of nearly 250 mph. For now, the Roadster is merely a concept, and in general, concepts change drastically during their development into production models. As shown, the Roadster concept features a removable glass-panel roof, which you can stow in the trunk. It has four seats, but the rear ones look as though they may not fit adults, given the Roadster’s dramatically angled roofline. Other than that, we expect to see Tesla’s signature minimalist interior design repeated here.
A big touchscreen runs from the top of the dash all the way to the centre console in the concept, with a storage cubby beneath it. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility are not available in any of Tesla’s vehicles, and we don’t anticipate that to change with the Roadster. In fact, if the Model 3 sedan’s entertainment system is any indication of what we’ll see in the Roadster, purchasers should not expect AM radio or SiriusXM.
