Exterior
Most K5 variants are propelled by a 180-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that couples with an eight-speed automated transmission. Front-wheel drive is normal; all-wheel drive is optional, but only on the GT-Line. The front-drive, 180-hp K5 we tested had good acceleration in town, with a 7.0-second trip to 60 mph.
It was less remarkable at highway speeds, as it took longer to complete passes. Nonetheless, its reliable transmission and well-insulated cabin helped keep engine noise to a minimum. The more potent 2.5-liter turbo four in the full-Monty GT model produces 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.



Along with an exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission (with the same wet dual-clutch as the Hyundai Sonata N Line), the sportiest K5 features larger brakes, custom suspension tuning, and wider tyres on larger 19-inch wheels. The GT we tested reached 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and came to a stop from 70 mph in 163 feet.
The Sonata N Line, which has the same engine and transmission as the Sonata, was marginally faster to 60 mph (5.0 seconds) and stopped even faster (152 feet). The hi-PO Hyundai we tested, on the other hand, had optional summer tyres (the Kia only has all seasons), which added to its performance edge.
Interior
The interior of the K5 is stunning for the price. The cabin is decorated with appealing materials like wood trim on the dash and doors, and the arrangement is both stylish and straightforward. The interior of the K5 is likewise upmarket, with ambient interior lighting on the dash and doors, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a wireless charging pad.



While even at its lowest setting, the driver’s seat seems high, the comfy location for your left foot and floor-hinged accelerator are excellent extras. The back seat has lots of legroom, and the trunk has plenty of storage capacity. We squeezed seven carry-on suitcases back there.
