The new Opel Grandland gives this practical family SUV sharper styling and more technology. The VW Tiguan and Nissan Qashqai alternative will go on sale soon, with the first UK sales planned in Autumn 2021.
The departing Vauxhall Grandland does not appear to be particularly thrilling. Sure, it has a distinctive roof and a smattering of chrome trim, but what family SUV these days doesn’t? Vauxhall has thankfully given the new car a makeover fit for a reality show.
The fully revamped front end is the first thing you’ll notice. The new car features fully new headlights (each with up to 84 individual LEDs), a new gloss-black grille insert, and a couple of new angular trims in the front bumper, all inspired by the smaller Mokka SUV.
The new car’s rear end hasn’t been fully seen, but a teaser image displays a new ‘Grandland’ script emblem that spreads across the boot lid, similar to the Skoda Karoq.
Vauxhall hasn’t confirmed which engines will be available in the new Grandland, but you can expect it to borrow a range of petrol, diesel, and hybrid options from the outgoing car.
Entry-level cars will likely come with a 130hp 1.2-litre petrol engine, while diesel models will get an equally powerful 1.5-litre unit. There’ll also be a plug-in hybrid model, though Vauxhall hasn’t confirmed if this’ll match the specs of the outgoing 300hp Grandland X PHEV. Opel Grandland Price in Pakistan 2022.

Exterior
The restyled version of the Opel Grandland, which was unveiled in June and tested in August, should arrive at the base of your Christmas tree. But that was before the closure of the Eisenach factory for a few months and the protests of German trade unionists opposed to the Stellantis group’s plan to repatriate this entity under its jurisdiction rather than Opel’s.
Following their minor victory, the employees reopened their plant, and on January 6, 2022, the first restyled Grandland rolled off the assembly line. On the other hand, the manufacturer has hiked the costs on all petrol and diesel models by 950 €, which is a terrible surprise for French clients who have been ordering since the beginning of January.
Because the Grandland is still based on the “multi-energy” EMP2 platform, it will come standard with a 222bhp plug-in Hybrid-e engine. We’ve been told that a 296bhp Hybrid-e variant will be added to the lineup later, but we doubt many purchasers will choose it. The infotainment system, like that of other Vauxhalls, has been updated, with the Pure Panel system combining a seven or a 12-inch digital dash, depending on specification, with a seven or a 10-inch touchscreen.
The latter is bundled together in a piano black surround on our Ultimate-spec car, and although it does a good job of adapting the existing cabin design (there are also some subtle aesthetic modifications and new materials lower down on the front), there is still a lot of hard, bright plastic.
Under the bonnet the engine line-up is familiar in that the 128bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine remains. It’s the car we’re driving here and will continue to be the most popular powertrain in the line-up. Opel Grandland 2022 Price in Pakistan.

Interior
Inside the 2019 Vauxhall Grandland, there are also significant upgrades. A new dual-screen infotainment system with a central touchscreen and a digital driver’s display is included in the new automobile. The former is 12 inches long, while the latter has a 10-inch screen that displays various driving information.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow you to connect your phone to the car’s built-in screen, and there’s also a wireless charging station to keep your battery charged. The new Grandland has electrically adjustable front seats with pneumatic lumbar support, so a long journey shouldn’t be ruined by lower back pain. The enhanced leather seats in the Grandland also provide the option of heating and ventilation.
LED lighting, all-around parking sensors, lane departure warning with lane-keep assist, automated emergency braking, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, as well as 17-inch alloys, are included in the Design specification (£25,810 in 1.2 Turbo manual version, £1,780 less than before). On the move, the Grandland is reminiscent of its predecessor dynamically. The 1.2 Turbo engine has plenty of torque, at 230Nm for a 0-60mph time of 10.4 seconds when mated to the six-speed manual gearbox. It’s a grunty engine that pulls hard and delivers good flexibility – this is the kind of performance you need in a family SUV, rather than all-out acceleration.
The six-speed manual’s shift action is more positive than we remember, to the point where it doesn’t detract from the driving experience. Refinement is also good, with only the faintest grumble from under the bonnet when you load the engine hard.
