Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2023 Price in Pakistan. If you’re looking for a small, affordable hybrid sedan, this is your only option – literally. You don’t have any other options. This is because the Toyota Corolla Sedan dominates this segment of the market to such an extent that no other brands dare to enter it. Perhaps it’s because the market for compact petrol-electric three-box models is so small.

Of course, it’s also available as a hatchback. The Corolla moniker has now moved to crossover territory, with the new Corolla Cross compact SUV extending the Japanese company’s market dominance.

While there is a mild-hybrid Mazda 3 that can compete with the Corolla, this car is highly efficient and has recently been enhanced with a slew of upgrades for 2023. This review focuses on the base 2023 Toyota Corolla Sedan Ascent Sport Hybrid, but I’ll go over the items you should think about if you’re looking for a Corolla sedan, including what you should pay more for.

Exterior

The hybrid powertrain is changed in the Toyota Corolla lineup for 2023. It still runs the same 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, but it has been modified with a new high-output motor generator, redesigned power control unit and smaller hybrid transaxle, which Toyota says gives “enhanced performance”.

This results in a greater combined power output of 103kW, an increase of 13kW over the previous generation. Toyota does not provide a combined torque figure, hence there is none. It has a front-wheel drive system and an e-CVT (electronic continuously variable transmission).

Customers will choose the petrol-electric powertrain over the non-hybrid 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 126kW of power and 203Nm of torque. It has a CVT automatic transmission with programmed steps and a physical launch gear.

Interior

Aside from that, a lot of the finishes and designs in this Corolla standard are workmanlike. There is a plastic steering wheel and gear change selector, neither of which are particularly comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. At the very least, the steering wheel button layout is simple.

The dashboard has soft-touch plastics, but the door tops do not. Hard plastic continues to be used below the sightline, with hard plastic used on the transmission tunnel surround (where you might rest your leg). There’s some piano black to brighten things up a touch, but the overall design is dark grey on lighter grey on slightly less grey.

There are cupholders between the front seats, bottle holders in both doors, a short glovebox, and a little storage cubby in front of the shifter – there is also a USB-C port there, but there is only one USB port in the entire car!

If you have necessary passengers, there is a covered centre armrest between the front seats with a 12V outlet from which you might run a twin USB charger… or if you use it as an Uber vehicle.

In addition to the gear shifter, there are a few buttons in front of it: EV Mode, Drive Mode (Normal, Sport, Eco), and traction control off. A wonderful feature is the electronic park brake trigger located behind the shifter. You have single-zone climate control with an eco option, which you may utilise if you’re concerned about how much of a drain your A/C system is on your fuel use.
