Interior

The Golf GTI’s interior features a more contemporary style than previously with some nods to the past. The three-spoke steering wheel of the GTI has touch-sensitive buttons and a strongly curved rim.

Its bolstered front seats feature characteristic plaid inserts on the top and bottom cushions and red trim around their outside edges. Unfortunately, the new interior is tarnished by some chintzy finishes, unlike the high-quality surroundings of the previous version. A lower cowl makes it easier to see the road ahead, but we prefer a straightforward set of analog gauges to the excessively adjustable digital layout.
